Once a 3D scan of a guitar is opened in FretLab PRO, the app can generate a set of virtual strings that fit right into the high resolution 3D scan of the fingerboard.

The app can generate virtual strings in any standard string gauges and place the virtual strings from the nut to the saddle of the guitar 3D scan.

The user can then fine tune the exact positions of each individual string.

The image shows a cross section of the front of the nut, where the virtual strings are anchored inside of the string slots.

FretLab PRO is also able to generate some other elements, used in other functionalities of the app. Those details will be disclosed at some future time.
